A Spin on the Classic: Pineapple Upside Down Cake

We are big proponents of anything pineapple here at ShahSquared, so it only makes sense that we would take the most iconic dessert - pineapple upside down cake - and find some quirky, fun alternatives. For those unfamiliar with the cake, it begins with a simple caramel, pineapple rings, and maraschino cherries placed in the bottom of a cake pan. The fruit is topped with a yellow cake and baked until golden brown. The cake is flipped while warm to reveal the caramelized fruit and served á la mode (at least in our house).
